Committed Club: PushPress
Committed Club: PushPress
Company: PushPress, gym software company
Project: A gamified retention program for gyms, integrated into PushPress, that rewards members who attend a gym x+ times/month.
Role: Senior Product Manager – led ideation, discovery, requirements, and launch.
Increased gym member retention and engagement while reducing operational burden on gym owners.
Problem
Industry context: Gym industry average churn ~ 9%. Retention is a major challenge.
Observation: Members who checked in 12+ times/month churned at only 3.5%.
Pain points from client discovery:
Gym owners were running retention “Committed Clubs” manually (challenging members to come x times or more a month), but even bare minimum level of effort was requiring ~10 hrs of manual work per month, and admins still wanted to do more.
Many wanted to run these programs but lacked time, tools, or know-how.
Discovery + Insights
Conducted interviews with clients already running manual versions of a “Committed Club”.
Validated demand from those who weren’t running one but wanted to.
Key insight: Owners valued retention but were bottlenecked by admin effort.
Success criteria defined: Must save time and increase member engagement.
